Appliance Whispering

With the backdrop of software accelerating the way it did over the last decade, I paint a picture where hardware will be just as easy to play with over the coming decade. I describe how even today there are many tools for hardware tinkerers of all skill levels (even for toddlers).

In this presentation, I offer some examples of these tools and provide a lot of resources for those interested to explore further on their own. At the end, I introduce Arduino and suggest that it is the tool that provides the most utility to the broadest range of skill levels and explain how easy it is to get started… including several fun projects that people have attempted with the Arduino.

This was created with HTML, CSS and JS using a library called impress.js. This library allows multiple div elements to be positioned in a 3D space and stepped through using the keyboard arrow keys.
