I’ve been working on teaching folks how to play with Arduinos, an open-source hardware prototyping platform. Deborah Acosta from the Miami Herald caught wind and asked if she could ask me a few questions about the swelling maker movement in South Florida. She got back to me last week and told me the video was live! My 15-seconds of fame can be found at the end of this video, “Trendspotting: The Maker Movement“.
While I’ve never heard of 4th Estate before, they’ve enlisted the help of Apt Studio and Asylum Films to celebrate their 25th year in publishing. To mark this event, they’ve created an amazing stop-motion video over the course of 3 weeks. I’ve included the video after the jump.
I’ve always loved stop-motion and have been really glad to see it making a major comeback. If anyone enjoys cartoons (raises hand) and has some hours to kill in the evening, you can find some great stop-motion shows like Robot Chicken and Morel Orel on Cartoon Network’s late night programming [adult swim].
A new Shane Acker/Tim Burton film is being released on September 9, 2009 called “9” (can you feel the marketing?) which looks absolutely exquisite! It’s being adapted from a short animation by the same name. I don’t know about you, but I’m setting a reminder to go see it. Screen grabs and a trailer after the break.
